Snazzy Snippets: When I am Weak

Yay! I love this link up and the best thing is that after mocks I did some more writing on When I am Weak. I lost part of it early this year, which was a total bummer, because most of it was spur-of-the-moment writing, and I can't re write it. *Cries big writer tears*

Snazzy Snippets: When I am Weak

I'm excited to join Alyssa's link up, in which you share a snippet of writing within the themes. In her words:

"...It’s an opportunity for writers! Every two months, we post a prompt or question for you to share a snippet of less than 500 words. It’s designed to let you have fun, analyse your work on a smaller level, or just write something to join in."

You can read more and link up here.

I've chosen to post from my WIP, When I am Weak. Enjoy!

Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award (iii)

Look (but not behind you)! We're doing another tag. It's because the lovely Heather tagged me (you're amazing!) and I'm easing back into school (bleh) and tag posts are kind of easy.

So I did this award a while ago, here. And then I embarrassed myself by missing Annika's questions, so I did a second round here (by the end I was your Queen, remember?).

And so thus begins round three of the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award.

Are You Ready for the End of the World?

Let's address the elephant in this post. This is not me yelling that the end is nigh and we're all going to hell.

When an Opal Maths

When an Opal maths, you normally end up with a splash of color across the page, a strange clash of the organised color coder and a focused brain. A clash of the unknown and a pen.

Opal is Lost

Opal is unsure about Opal Swirls. She doesn't know where it's going, she has no idea what to post most of the time. She doesn't know what you want to read or learn about. So Opal has put some polls into this post to find some things about about what you want (Opal likes polls at the moment). Opal is talking about herself in third person for some reason.

Why This Picture is Important to Me: Granddad

Everything we know, everything we have, will one day be gone. Maybe before we are, maybe after. However, there are chances of us outliving things. For example, you are likely to outlive any pets or phone you currently have. The world around us is constantly changing, and as we get older we see more and more of what we knew change. In these situations, I believe a picture is worth a thousand words.

Liebster Award | Infinity Dreams Award

It turns out the rules for the Liebster Award and the The Infinity Dreams Award are almost the same, with the exception that the Liebster Award has lost the 11 facts thing, the the The Infinity Dreams Award has gained it. I decided to mix the two awards- shoutout to Annika and Serena for the tags.

Recently | Hello June

Um, is anyone else freaking out that we are about to be halfway through 2015?! 2015 was supposed to be my year, but it looks like I might have to pin those hopes onto 2016 at this point. The year is going to quickly, and I feel left behind.

This Song Will Save Your Life

Does it sound weird and dumb, to say you remember falling in love with music? Because I do. I remember being 13 and discovering all these new bands, finally understanding why my peers were constantly wearing headphones. I remember connecting suddenly with a song, and thinking wow. I still have those moments, when I listen to a song for the first time, or the thousandth, and it hits me all over again.

I think music is one of the most amazing things humans have ever come up with.  Music makes us want to dance and cry, sometimes all within the space of one song. You can turn the sound up, and be drowned by a song. Maybe it's hearing someone else sing, hearing their voice, saying the same things we think or feel that makes music special. Whatever it is, music connects us in a unique way, it brings us together.

When Life Gives You Lemons

Sometimes, life doesn't go our way- the way we think it should go. We fight with people, we make mistakes, we find out the person we loved didn't love us back, we get teased for something we can't control.

Guest Post: Jo Day

Today I'm pleased to introduce a blogging friend! Jo Day has an amazing blog with equally amazing posts and she is super talented at blog design. We share the same personality (INTJ) and live in the same hemisphere, which makes me happy, because I feel New Zealand and Australia are under represented in teen bloggers. Please extend a warm welcome to Jo!

Recently | Hello May

Ummm, where did April go, exactly? I think I missed it. Last week someone said to me 'this year is hard, but savour it because it's also good.' I'm tying their advise to heart, I really am. But when you have an assessment in nearly every class and your teachers keep trying to squeeze a tiny bit more out of you, it's hard.

Dealing With Insecurity

I have always had certain insecurities, some developed so long ago I have forgotten what it is like to live without them. Some of them are harder than others, and they all flare at different things. Dealing with insecurities, often which are quite personal, can be hard.

Recently, some of my insecurities have been bad. I've removed myself from the main situation that was causing it, but you cannot always avoid people. The more I try to ignore my insecurities, the more I find myself walking with my head down, clutching my folder begging people not to notice me. I don't honestly think that any human being can lay the claim to not have ever feeling insecure. There are however, ways to deal with it.

Cake Book Tag

Honestly, I just go to restaurants to eat so I won't die. If there was a pill I could take in January and then I wouldn't have to eat again for the rest of the year, I would take it. Of course, I wouldn't want to sacrifice my chocolate cake and ice cream.

Snippets: When I am Weak

'One day I will find the right words, and they will be simple.' - Jack Kerouac

In my 'Writing Stages' post a few days ago, I admitted I was pretty much frustrated and unable to write. Today, my fingers suddenly flew again! It is beautiful, I have to say. It is a long time since I've sat down to write and have actually written.  I wonder if Henry David Thoreau was right: How vain it is to sit down to write when you have not stood up to live. And live recently, I have.

In celebration of exhausting my metal capacity, I thought I might share some of today's writing with you. When I am Weak is turning out to be quite intense in some places, and I'm scaring myself a bit.

The Stages of Writing [Camp NaNoWriMo]

In honour of Camp NaNoWriMo, I have compiled a GIF post of the writing process. Now, this might not ring true for all, but I think it does an okay job. Camp NaNoWriMo is strange for me, I have finished King of Fire, which is what I spent most of last year writing. And I miss it.

Annnnyways, without further ado! (does anyone else find ado a weird word? No? Just me?)

Fan Month + New Design

As previously mentioned, I am off to do my fan month today! I probably will not be blogging for the next week, but I will be reading yalls blogs! When I come back, I'll do a big catch up post. Meanwhile, you can keep up with what I'm reading by following my Pinterest Board.

Are there any blogs you suggest I should be reading?

As you probably noticed, I have re designed everything around here. I need yall to give me some feedback. Please be harsh and honest! I've also updated my pages.

To simple? Not enough pictures? Hard to read? Boring? What would you change if it was your blog?
Opal wishes you a happy week, and looks forward to seeing yall around the blogosphere.

Public School vs. Home School

I'm probably going to raise hackles by bringing this up, because everyone has their own idea of what is a good or bad way for a child to be taught.  I've based a lot of it off being a Christian, which annoys me because I feel like it's more Christian Homeschoolers vs. Christian Public Schoolers.

I've called each part a 'freedom' as in, how much freedom do/did I have for each issue, if that makes sense.

Please remember that I am not setting out to offend anybody, these are just my thoughts on the subject.
