Recently | Hello September

September whhhhaaaat? Who's with me when I say I cannot believe we're rocketing toward the end of the year?

August was a super busy month for me. My family had two exchange students. I had a sports exchange and my football team won our grade. I have rehearsals for a production I'm in, and I'm also in a play at school. Studying for mocks is crazy and so is the pressure from my teachers to be studying at home 24/7. Oh, and I got quite sick on top of that. So I had to take time off school which was a pain.

It's warming up in New Zealand, spring has differently arrived. My friends and I have been spending some lunchtimes outside. We chill on the grass and they talk. I've been thinking a lot about appreciating the people in your life, and matching you life to your belief system.

Blogging time has all but been taken, but I'm still trying to visit your blogs. There were lots of blogoversary's this month, which was cool. August seems to be a popular month for starting blogs- it was the month I started Opal Swirls as well.

I've read a lot more this month (12 books), basically because it's a stress release for me. I finished my reading challenge, and have read 103 books this year! I really enjoyed I am the Messenger and The Unlikely Hero of 13B.

What did you read in August? Did I read any of your favourites?  What did you get up into August? Are you looking forward to September?

Opal is busy. She's ready for exams to be over already. Also, being sick sucks. Opal is never getting sick again.

  2. Tiger Lily is great. I really liiked all the Light WE Cannot See and the Raven Boys. I have lots of tests too. I also started my blog in august :) One of the best parts of the month for me was seeing a friend who lives in England and my little sister turning seven:) And of course september is busy too- my parents are away and there's a mock MUN conferences I'm chairing and a retreat and the school Newspaper to edit and lots of homework :)

  3. Right? I can't believe it's September already! I would be interested to hear more about your thoughts on matching your beliefs to your life, if you plan a post for that! And I can say already that I have not read any of the books you read this month because I only read three books. *sighs* BUT I WILL RISE AGAIN OKAY? Anyway, it sounds like you had a pretty good August, Opal, and I hope September is a little less busy for you. :)

  4. *freaks out because September is so sneaky* Where did you come from, September? Go away! Seriously though, the year has flown by so quickly, it isn't fair. And I'm moving to live with my sister in Virginia come October, so that's creeping up on me. I've been insanely busy lately--what with trying to write a bunch of blog posts ahead so I won't have to worry about that when I'm in the thick of moving, and I've been trying to finish a draft of my novel while battling the distractions that come with living with my cousins for two weeks. My mom just had a tumor the size of a cantaloupe removed, so that also added business and travel time. Needless to say, I haven't read half as many books as I would have liked to. I think I mostly spent the month trying not to cry whenever I looked at my growing TBR. On the plus side, I binge-watched Firefly and commented on way more blogs than ever, which is super fun.

Anyway, getting sick stinks, and I hope you're feeling better. (And I'm going to echo Heather here and say I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on matching your beliefs to your life.)

  5. I've actually read.. *gasp* NONE of the books you read this month. I've been wanting to read a bunch of them (namely, I Am the Messenger), but I have SO many books to read that I'm not sure how soon I'll get to it. xD

I'm definitely looking forward to September, but am also a bit overwhelmed by all the school and blogging and writing deadlines I have to meet. *shrug* It'll be good, though.

  8. I can't believe that we're near the end of the year, too! It's super crazy. Ooh, how is housing foreign exchange students? I can't house one because nearly every room is filled up, but perhaps when my brother is in high school we could house one... Eh, 2015, I don't know-- it's been super wild and fast.

    xoxo Morning

  13. Pure determination will prevent illness. I should know. My parents are doctors :D . Great job on your sports exchange! That sounds very fun. I hope all your mocks go well :) How did you read so much on top of everything else? I only read about 5 books in August (maybe six but not enough, really) I haven't read any of this books except City of Bones, which I found boring, but I really need to sometime...

    1. Thats cool! Thanks :)
Reading is like a stress release for me so I tend to carry books around with me a lot when life's super busy, which is probably weird xD
Yeah, it wasn't the most interesting book I've ever read... :)
