Burn, Reread or Rewrite?

Oh books. You make the world go around.

Liz, over at Out of Coffee, Out of Mind, tagged me for the Burn, Reread or Rewrite tag. Thanks Liz!

I've seen this done on YouTube a lot, and I like the idea of doing tags in different-from-normal ways on Opal Swirls, so here we are.

So, do you agree/disagree with me on anything? Do you like seeing a tag done like this? Or is it weird? Should I ever do anything like this again? Be honest with me.
Do I have an accent??

Opal has a drama exam in front of a camera at the end of the year. It's weird talking to just a camera, so the more practise the better?

  1. This is awesome Opal, and practicing talking to cameras sounds hard :( You do have an accent, but considering we have the same accent (or similar, I guess) and everybody in the world has an accent, it's fine :)

    1. Yay! Glad you liked it :)

Because we often get confused with Australians when it comes to accents in American movies, I feel weirdly conscious of it :)

  2. This is so great! I think it was a wonderful idea to do the tag as a video. :) And those were all a good selection of books. Burning Divergent would make me equally sad. (Also, I'm glad I'm not the only one who talks to my books like that. :P)

Yes, you do have an accent (to me, at least, since I'm from America), but it's a great accent. *nods* *steals accent*

Thanks for doing the tag! I really enjoyed watching your video! :)

I'm glad you didn't find it annoying or anything! :)

  3. AHHH YOU DID A VIDEO WITH YOUR FACE AND YOUR VOICE AND THEY ARE BOTH SO GREAT. This was a great decision on your part.

Let's see... I would probably burn Shatter Me, but I haven't read The Fault in Our Stars, so I can't really compare. I just found it... like... weird. I didn't like it.

Gatsby is of course an important reread... I wouldn't burn The Giver, because that was an important book to me. I haven't read Go Set a Watchman yet, but I am actually rereading To Kill a Mockingbird right now, so I might soon. I am very wary because of my criticalness but hopefully it is good. Or at least... not bad?

    Great work, Opal!

    1. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOU ENTHUSIASM!!!! It makes me so happy when people get excited about my blog post :)

Are you enjoying To Kill a Mockingbird? I think it's important to think about Go Set a Watchman as a very different book from To Kill a Mockingbird :)

  4. You definitely do have an accent, but even though I live on the completely opposite side of the world, I know enough people from Australia / New Zealand for me to consider it as usual and not another accent (although my uncle, who lived in New Zealand for awhile, never actually had an "accent"-- he sounds American, which is weird because he isn't even American born or raised, so... ???)

I watched the video-- definitely agreed on rewriting The Maze Runner-- the concept is intriguing, but there were parts of the book that got me super infuriated. I also agree on rereading The city of Bones. If you need to read anything by Cassandra Clare, read the Infernal Devices, because it is structured so much better than TMI, in general.

    xoxo Morning

    1. *Gasps* Australians have a very different accent from New Zealanders :P New Zealanders hear a whine in the Australian accent, but maybe if you don't grow up with it, you can't hear it??

Thanks for the advise about Cassandra Clare, because I really want to get into her books :)

  5. Your accent is pretty cool, although it sounds Australian to me. I cannot for the life of me tell the difference between Australian and NZ accents. I know they're different, but I can't tell quite yet.

That's super cool that you did a video!! I really enjoyed watching it. And it would make me very sad to burn Divergent. I didn't love the last two books in the series but burning Divergent would just be very, very hard.

    1. *Massive gasp* New Zealander's don't like to be compared to Australians :P

I'm glad you enjoyed it! It made me sad to burn Divergent too :/

  7. Nice video! Switching up the style, I see. Your accent's pretty great, by the way! It actually sounds vaguely Australian.

I'm with you on City on Bones (LET IT BURN), TFiOS and Divergent. And Great Gatsby is legendary. I was completely surprised, though, you like Great Gatsby? I've only seen you talk about it once...maybe twice...maybe in many of your posts. :')

    1. Thank you :) NEVER :P

*Gasps* The Great Gatsby is life!! I tend to start writing about it in a post then delete it because I'm like "no one wants to hear me talk about it... again." :)
