Opal and Exams

Opal is not an exam person. Opal is write-a-report-hand-it-in-for-credits person. Opal doesn't remember a lot of things long term. She forgets her own age sometimes (a story for another time). Here is the story of mocks...

All year, Opal has been getting ready to study efficiently...

Studying comes around...

The whole no long term memory thing...

Opal does not cram. Because cramming doesn't work...

Opal does not leave things to the last minute...

Before the exam with friends...

During the exam...

But...

Coming out of the exam...

The last exam...

Seeing my teachers, and they ask how the exam went...

Are you an exam person? Or do you like internal assessments, like me?

Opal has finished her mocks! 5 exams in 3 days was interesting. Opal sort of melted into a puddle at the end. She has the rest of the week to recover now.

  1. XDDD THIS IS SO TRUE, THOUGH! Like, seriously, these are the best GIFs ever. The Iron Man and Supernatural GIFs in particular were my favorite because that is literally me. But, hey, it sounds like you have a break from your exams now?

  2. OH MY GOODNESS THIS IS SO 100000% TRUE. The Iron Man gif made me laugh so hard that my sister had to tell me to come back to reality. I'm sure you did well, and I'm glad it's over for you! (Unfortunately, I still have about five more exams to go... WHY?????)

  3. HAHA, A+ gifs. My fav are the two GoT ones, and maybe the Iron Man one. I detest it when people ask me how I did -- I finished it, and I'll know how I did when I get it back, but between now and then I am not reliving the test. No thank you. But yay, your exams are over now!

  5. UGH........ ARE YOU READING MY MIND, OPAL??? I have an exam on Saturday & I've been taking mock exams ALL WEEK & cramming like a crazy person. XD (I honestly think I might be a little insane now. I'm just waiting to break into uncontrollable hysterical laughter over a stupid Science question.) O-o

  6. This was great! All the gifs, especially the last ones. They were spot on! Usually I can do tests, but finals? Bleh. I can't stand finals. They're usually comprehensive and that just doesn't work for me. I can't stand reading something I don't want to read for the fifth time.

To be honest, when finals come around, I don't study that much, because I know all the words will just blur together and I won't really get any of it. My strategy (oh, yes you have to have a strategy for not-studying) is to study hard during semester, ace everything I can, so that I can get away with a B on finals and it won't effect me. That might sound sloppy, but it works, and usually since I studied hard during the semester, I can remember most things with mere reminder instead of a cram reading of the whole textbook.

    1. I'm okay with tests. Except spelling ones. But mocks and exams?? No thanks! Yeeeesssssss so many weird questions you don't understand.

YES. Because that's what I do to. I work really hard during the year so that I don't have to much riding on exams. But I still study because otherwise I would fail. I worked on studying all year so that I could try and store some information away :)

  7. I AM SO GLAD I DON'T HAVE TO DO MOCKS. They sound like just another form of torture invented to extract information from students--not an actual learning tool. And I am not an exam person. I loved reading and processing assignments, but I hated taking any sort of test. I always do better writing an essay or whatever, hashing stuff out on my own without having to answer leading questions and poorly phrased inquiries and vague discussion topics. Grr. *throws papers on floor* *stomps on papers*

Your GIFs were amazing though. I think your GIF usage should count as a super power or something.

    1. WAIT CAN I COME TO YOUR SCHOOL??? Our mocks are used for school award because we don't get the real marks back until January.

*Stomps on paper with you *

Maybe it is a superpower ;)

  9. This is so super true. I cannot handle exams, at all; I'm crummy when it comes to studying for them, even if they are just tests. I'll be studying for pre-calculus and then start bursting into song for about ten minutes, then forget what I was doing before I started singing for another fifteen, and then finally get back to work. It's like a study for five minutes. I can do much better when it comes to writing essays we have several days to work on them, and not timed writes; those are just the worst and I take them like an exam, except WE ARE SPONTANEOUSLY ASKED TO WRITE SOMETHING WE HAVE LITTLE KNOWLEDGE OF.

    xoxo Morning

    1. I'm always hunting down food as an excuse xD I find working on something over several days without a clock ticking down the three hours much easier.
YES I KNOW RIGHT. I learn all this stuff because I don't know what I have to know which is just dumb because I'm going to forget it as soon as I come out of the exam!!

  10. Tests and quizzes are the absolute worst. I get so nervous for them and often times I go into the classroom shaking because I'm so nervous. That's kind of bad since we usually have to take lots of exams, but somehow I deal with it. You must be so relieved that your mocks are over!

    1. Tests I'm normally okay with, mocks I defiantly get nerves. Monday morning I was a mess because I drank a lot of coffee (more than usual) to keep me alive but coffee mixed with nerves...
      I sure am! :)

  11. UGHH exams. So no fun. Personally for me any written essay or report is like a GAJILLION times easier, since writing and doing research is just so much more easier. When I try (key word:try) studying, I usually end up like bringing the entire pantry along with me and then sitting there. Then I convince myself that if I watch something on Youtube that that will help me study (really, autumn?) and then end up sitting there for 3.5 hrs.
It's not always that bad. but close.
btw, good choice of GIFs! These posts are always hilarious ^_^

  12. Phew, I'm so glad I'm homeschooled and don't have exams! I have regular tests/quizzes for each subject but no heavy week filled with exams. I'd probably leap off a bridge. Or maybe just drop out of school. Because I'm definitely a crammer with awful study skills and a tendency to give up when things get tough. So yeah...pretty sure college (if I can even get in) is gonna destroy me.
